KUALA LUMPUR: Two punters from Malacca and Penang struck it big at the Sports Toto Jackpot, walking away with a combined winnings of RM44.8 million.
The first winner from Malacca purchased his winning ticket in Negri Sembilan, was rewarded when his combined car registration and house number saw him win RM26.4 million in the Toto 4D Jackpot 1, on May 28.
The 50-year-old winner, who is a company manager, came to collect his winnings 2 days later.
“I have been playing Sports Toto games ranging from Toto 6D, Power Toto 6/55, Supreme Toto 6/58, Grand Toto 6/63, Toto 4D to Toto 4D Jackpot for over 20 years and I had only won RM2,500 the most.
“I never thought that my new car registration number, which I had been buying for 1 year and with my house number, would win me a whopping RM26 million,” he said.
“On that Saturday evening before dinner, my friend messaged me that my car number came out and I replied to him that ‘how good if the other number also came out’.
“It’s like a dream came true when I found out later that both numbers had hit the Jackpot. I was too excited until I could not finish my dinner,” he said.
With only a minimum bet of RM2 on the Toto 4D Jackpot, the lucky winner won RM26.3 million with the winning pair of 4D numbers – “7584 and 8899”.
He will use the winnings for his child’s education, investment and charity.
The second winner from Penang won RM18.4 million in the Supreme Toto 6/58 Jackpot on May 15 .
This was after 3 years of buying the same set of numbers and Lotto game.
The winner who will continue to work after retirement, collected his prize money a week later. “I randomly picked the winning set of numbers – 10, 37, 44, 46, 54 & 56 when I bought Supreme Toto 6/58 for the first time and I continued to buy the same set of numbers only on Supreme Toto 6/58 for the past 3 years.”
The winner found out of his win from the newspaper, a day after the draw and was excited when he realised that he won a whopping RM18.4 million. “My daughter said, I must be dreaming and my wife was too happy to the extent that she became speechless,” he said.
